Located in the city centre of Valencia, Españolé unites innovative teaching methods with modern language-learning facilities and an exciting assortment of extracurricular activities, to allow foreign students to learn the Spanish language whilst thoroughly enjoying themselves.
The school possesses modern facilities, including twenty-three classrooms, spread across two buildings located in Valencia’s historic centre. Some of its facilities serve to enhance students’ language learning- for example the library, the video library and the student room equipped with computers. Other amenities, such as the rooftop terrace and the patio, allow students to relax and unwind in-between or after classes and enjoy the beautiful Valencian weather and atmosphere.
Españolé belongs to the International House World Organization, which has been offering quality language courses all over the world for over fifty years. The selection of Spanish programs is vast, including intensive courses of either twenty or twenty-five classes per week, superintensive courses, Spanish for business courses and DELE preparation courses. The school also arranges specialized programs for specific purposes, such as Spanish for academic preparation, Spanish and football, and even Spanish and sailing!
The school’s teaching method is mainly based on communication, encouraging students to practice their speaking skills from the very first day. There is a strong emphasis on learning the foundations of the Spanish grammar, as well as reading, writing and listening. Españolé prides itself on encouraging students to learn Spanish that is pertinent to real-life situations, which is reflected in its learning materials: textbooks are used, however, students will also learn using newspaper articles and audio-visual materials such as adverts, to ensure that they can apply their Spanish in the real world. Upon completing the course, students will be provided with an academic report and a certificate from the school.
Class sizes range from between six and ten students, ensuring that each student receives personalized attention. The majority are aged between twenty and forty and come from all corners of the world; the school states that it tries to maintain a good balance of many different nationalities.
Españolé ensures that students come away not only with a solid grasp of the Spanish language, but also with a knowledge and appreciation of the Spanish culture. This forms the basis of the extracurricular activities offered, allowing students to learn about the Spanish lifestyle, traditions and history. At least four free activities are offered per week, and many more are provided optionally, at reasonable prices. All students are given a tour of the city and a welcome party. They can also participate in visits to museums, excursions to neighboring towns, language workshops, picnics on the beach, tapas tours, barbecues…they certainly will not be bored! The school is in close proximity to sports facilities, so that students can practice their favorite sports such as tennis, basketball, football and fitness classes, amongst many others. Naturally, these activities will complement students’ studies by providing them with the opportunity to practice the Spanish they have learnt in the classroom.
