- The School
Spanish Language Centre is a modern language school with carefully chosen teaching staff, sunny premises and an excellent city-beach location in the south of Spain. Close to shops, cafes and tapas bars in the centre of Marbella, this school is only a five-minute walk from the beach. Spanish Language Centre prides itself on creating a warm, friendly atmosphere, and the teachers’ aim is to get everybody in the class involved and speaking Spanish from day one, using up to date teaching techniques and materials. The school building interior is bright and pleasant, including eight classrooms, audio-visual facilities, a common area, a computer room and free WiFi. The school also has an immense sun terrace, where lessons are often given in summer time.
There are several different types of courses on offer, starting with the all-year round intensive courses. The standard Intensive Course consists of 20 Spanish lessons per week, Monday to Friday, plus a culture workshop. The culture workshops are based on students’ wishes and could cover topics like flamenco dancing, Spanish literature, history and art, or reading the Spanish media. The Super Intensive Course is slightly faster paced, and includes 30 weekly Spanish lessons, as well as one culture workshop per week. Lessons last 55 minutes and both of these intensive courses accept students at any level from complete beginners to advanced.
Apart from general intensive courses, Spanish Language Centre also offers a number of specialist Spanish language programmes. The DELE Preparation Course gets students ready to pass the official DELE examinations in May, August or November. The school also offers Spanish for Business courses, with 10 weekly lessons dedicated to Spanish language learning and 10 further weekly classes concentrated on relevant topics, such as business vocabulary, writing emails and reports and practicing real life professional situations. The school also offers the possibility of booking onto a Spanish & Golf programme, great for those who want to combine their love of the sport with learning Spanish. You can also add one-to-one lessons to your curriculum. Contact UniSpain directly to find out more about the dates and prices of these specialist courses.
In order to create a fun atmosphere, and to get to know other students and teachers out of class, Spanish Language Centre organises frequent afternoon and evening activities. These can include trips into Marbella town, tours of the city’s main sights, or social gatherings where everybody goes out for tapas and drinks, or to play sports. There are also weekend trips to typical Andalusian whitewashed villages, and places like Gibraltar, Sevilla and Granada. Most activities are organised for free and students only have to pay for food, transport or entrance tickets where those are required.
As an added extra, Spanish Language Centre also offers additional services to its students. Cheap telephone cards are on sale for those wishing to call home on a budget, the school has a reception where you can resolve queries, and there is a well-equipped library where you can borrow books, DVDs and audio materials. You can even rent a bicycle, or a Spanish mobile phone, directly from the school.
Marbella is only 45 minutes away from Malaga international airport, which makes Spanish Language Centre very easy to reach from all major European airports. Both cosmopolitan, and at the same time typically Andalusian, Marbella is an attractive beachside town that offers plenty to do for all ages. The town centre and the famous Puerto Banus port nearby boast great little cafes, tapas places, restaurants and shops, as well as fun bars and nightclubs. Marbella is also known for its long, beautiful seaside promenade and its well-kept beaches.
