Spanish Language Courses at Pablo Olavide University

Pablo de Olavide University arranges various types of Spanish courses for foreigners - trimester courses, Hispanic Studies Program, summer courses and short-term courses . The short-term courses can be attended for 1, 2 or 4 weeks at different dates throughout the year and have 15 hour per week (optional courses available).The 15 hour course is the basic course that covers Spanish grammar, oral expression and writing skills. In the 20 hour courses students can choose between 1 optional daily class apart from the standard 3 hour daily course. In the optional classes students can choose between; Spanish Pronunciation, History of Hispanic Culture, Spanish for Business, Spanish Cinema and Preparation for the DELE exam. Read more »

About Sevilla University Pablo de Olavide

Pablo de Olavide University of Sevilla is the second biggest public university in Sevilla and is a very modern university founded in 1997. The university campus is located about 5 miles from the old centre of Sevilla and is easily accessible by public transportation within a 15-20 minutes bus ride.

The campus area is made up of 350 acres of land and in addition to the many classroom buildings the university has a lot additional installations including a library, computer laboratories, a cafe and cafeteria, green areas, and in and outdoor sports facilities. All students will receive a student card (both Spanish and foreign) that gives access to all the installations. The Spanish courses for foreigners are located in the main campus in a modern building that is shared with Spanish students studying foreign languages.

The Spanish courses are regulated by the centre for foreign studies that also arranges other languages courses and special programs for foreign students who would like to study a degree in Spain.

The methodology in the Spanish courses places emphasis on learning through a communicative method with the object to develop and apply all of the skills learned during the grammar and conversation classes. A lot of modern technology is also used in the classroom and on Fridays the classes includes individualized sessions in the language laboratory.

The teachers of the Spanish classes are all highly qualified with a University degree in Philology and have all received a special course in Teaching of Spanish to Foreigners.

Apart from the classroom teaching the Center for Foreign Students organizes a wide array of cultural activities like guided visits through the center of Sevilla, visits to museums, Spanish film showings, sporting events, etc.
