The Malaga University arranges both long-term Spanish language courses and short term intensive Spanish courses as well as a summer Spanish course. The long-term language courses of the university of Malaga are divided in two semesters of approximately 15 weeks starting in October and February, and when the second semester Spanish course finishes the summer Spanish language courses of the university of Malaga start (from June to September), which makes it possible to study Spanish at the university of Malaga all year around.

Students with more advanced Spanish language skills at the semester and summer courses can choose between optional subjects like Spanish language literature, Spanish history, Spanish cinema, Spanish art, Physical and political geography, Commercial Spanish, Colloquial Spanish, Society and Politics in today's Spain and Spanish American Culture.

Furthermore you can take the Intensive Spanish language courses from 2 weeks starting every month and Malaga University also arranges other Spanish language courses like an individual Spanish language course, the DELE preparation course, the Business Chamber of Commerce Exam preparation and the Spanish for Language Teaching Course.

The town of Malaga is not known as a university town although the University of Malaga has more than 30,000 students (among them about 3,000 foreign students). The Spanish language courses for foreigners at Malaga University have existed for more than 15 years and are held in a separate building in the centre of Malaga and not on the Malaga university campus, which is located about 15 min by bus away from the centre.

The Spanish language courses of the university of Malaga are located in the new part of the town centre on the Avenue de Andalucia, close to shopping malls, cinemas and other attractions. Although the Spanish courses for foreigners of the university of Malaga are not held at the Malaga University campus there is still a close relation between the university of Malaga for Spanish students and for foreign students.

The Spanish language courses are held in a modern and independent building of the University of Malaga and all classrooms are fully air-conditioned have access to audio and video equipment. Furthermore students have access to all facilities (the swim hall, sport grounds etc.) at the University of Malaga campus (situated 15 minutes by bus from the city center).

The students studying a Spanish language course at Malaga University are from all over the world with many students from Asia, Europe (especially Sweden) and USA and because of the range of Spanish language courses arranged both students and professionals study here.

The teachers at Malaga University all have a university degree in Philology and are experienced in teaching the Spanish language. The relatively small number of students per class (compared to other Universities) make the classes more communicative where all students can participate.

Malaga University arranges some activities for the students of Spanish language course such as a welcome party, trips to other towns and sport tournaments (soccer, basket etc.) in the Malaga University campus. Apart from these activities there are many activities arranged by Spanish student organizations where both foreign and Spanish students are invited.
