The main difference between the 15 and 20 hour courses is the additional subjects available for the 20 hour course. The 15 hour course will only focus on Spanish grammar and vocabulary whereas in the 20 hour course students can select one of the additional subjects below for the last 5 class hours each week: Conversation (which is mainly for students at the lower Spanish levels), Business Spanish, Spanish culture and civilization, Spanish Art, Spanish cinema and Spanish literature.
The University of Alicante is a public university owned by the Spanish State. The university was founded in 1979 although it has a straight relation to the University of Orihuela that dates back to 1545 and which was closed in 1834.
With its more than 33.000 students it is one of the fastest growing universities in Spain. It is located only 5min from the centre of Alicante in a modern complex of approx. 1 million square meters. The university counts with all necessary installations for a modern university like computer facilities, sport grounds, green areas, cafes and one of Spain's best Science Parks.
The Spanish language courses for foreigners are held in the main campus of the University. It is the International Relations Centre that is responsible for the Spanish language course as well other language courses for Spanish students.
The International Relations Centre has made a special organization called Club Internacional that does a great effort to encourage the exchange between Spanish and foreign students. This organization is also responsible for arranging a number of free time activities like excursions, sport activities or language exchange where both Spanish and foreign students participate.
The Spanish teachers are all highly qualified with a University degree in Philology and experienced in teaching Spanish to foreigners with different cultural backgrounds and from all over the world.
